Act, No. 70 of 2009
PARLIAMENT OF THE DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF SRI LANKA
We believe caring is only the beginning. When we see something that needs attention, we can choose to do something about it.
FORWARD exists to bring people, ideas, skills and resources together and turn caring into practical action. We start where we can, learn from what we do, and move forward from there.
Our initial goal is to support 50 children each month with nutritional assistance in Nuwara Eliya. As support grows, we will reach more children.
FORWARD was created with a simple idea: meaningful change can begin with practical action.
We bring people, resources, skills, and ideas together to support projects that address real community needs.
We are starting small, learning from what we do, and building carefully from there.
Our First Step
Our first project is a small pilot focused on children under five in the Nuwara Eliya district.
Through the pilot, we aim to provide 50 children with a monthly nutrition package valued at LKR 5,000 per child.
The purpose is simple: to provide families with additional nutritional support during the important early years of a child's development, while learning what is needed to make the program practical and sustainable.
We are deliberately starting small.
Rather than trying to do too much at once, we want to carry out the first stage carefully, understand what we learn from it, and use that experience to shape what comes next.
We believe that good intentions need practical action behind them. A project does not have to begin with a large organization, a large budget or a large number of people. It can begin with identifying a need, finding a practical way to respond, and taking the first step.
FORWARD is being built around that approach:
Start small - Learn - Improve - Keep moving forward
The first project is not only about providing support. It is also about understanding what works.
As the pilot develops, we will share what we can about the work — including the resources used, the progress made and the lessons we learn along the way.
This allows each stage of FORWARD to be shaped by real experience rather than assumptions.
The Nuwara Eliya nutrition pilot is the beginning, not the end. Once the first stage is completed, we will look at what we have learned and consider how the program can develop.
Future projects will be shaped by the needs we encounter, the resources available, and the lessons from the work we have already done. We don't want to promise more than we can deliver. We want to do the first step properly, learn from it, and then take the next one.
There are many ways to support the work of FORWARD.
You can contribute financially, give your time, offer a skill, provide resources, or simply help us connect with someone who may be able to help.
Every contribution does not have to be large to be useful.
Sometimes the most valuable thing you can offer is simply the willingness to help.
“Your support helps us turn compassion into meaningful action, creating a better life for children, comunities, and the environment.”
FORWARD is starting with one project, one community, and one practical step. We hope that, over time, those steps will grow into something that can support more people and respond to more needs. For now, we are focused on doing the work in front of us — and seeing where it leads.
