Our Projects
Small steps. Meaningful change.
Small steps. Meaningful change.
For years, our foundation has been committed to supporting families living below the poverty line, providing practical assistance to help meet basic needs.
As we continue to understand the challenges faced by vulnerable communities, we are now placing greater focus on one of the most important needs affecting young children in plantation communities: nutrition during the early years of life.
We have begun a small, locally supported nutrition program for children under five in Nuwara Eliya and surrounding plantation communities.
The program has been designed to start small and grow responsibly. Rather than waiting until we have the resources to reach a large number of children, we provide support with what is available each month and expand the number of children reached as support grows.
Our initial target is to support 50 children each month.
Support may include nutritious food items selected with the needs of young children and their families in mind. As the program develops, we will work toward establishing a more consistent monthly nutrition package and improving the way we monitor and document the program.
Our approach is simple:
Receive support → prepare assistance → reach children → document the work → improve and continue.
Every contribution helps us reach more children. If we receive enough support to reach 20 children in a month, we reach 20. If we can reach 50, we reach 50. As the program grows, so will the number of children we can support.
We aim to build a program that is practical, transparent and sustainable — one that grows from what we can actually accomplish on the ground.
The nutrition program is our first step toward a broader commitment to supporting children, young people, and families in underserved communities.
As this work develops, we are also examining the challenges young people in our communities face. Among these are limited opportunities, uncertainty about the future, and the growing impact of substance use.
We hope to develop simple, practical programs that give young people a place to learn, reflect, build self-awareness, and develop a stronger understanding of themselves and their direction in life.
Through our connection with the Gayathri Peedam, we are also exploring ways to make its peaceful environment and spiritual practices available to young people who may benefit from them — without imposing a particular path or belief.
These are areas we are still developing. We believe the most meaningful programs should grow from listening to the people and communities they are intended to serve.
For now, we begin with what we can do, learn from the experience, and grow step by step.
